Solar Harnessed Entrepreneurs (SHE) Project lead by Care International

The Solar Harnessed Entrepreneurs (SHE) Project is aimed at developing and expanding profitable renewable energy-enabled businesses for women through financing, capacity building, and enhanced market access. The $2.5 million pilot project, implemented by CARE Sierra Leone and supported by The Rockefeller Foundation and the Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP), supports nearly 8,000 women in nine of Sierra Leone’s 16 districts, with the aim of helping them expand their livelihoods through use of renewable energy resources.

Capitol Foods serves as an implementing partner, responsible for acquiring agro-processing machinery, providing training on maintenance and operations, and supplying the machinery to various beneficiaries nationwide. These beneficiaries include Village Savings and Loan (VSL) groups, who will make installment-based payments for the equipment.
